Apella on Newport is a student housing community near the University of Tampa, developed by Commercial Street Partners and managed by PeakMade. DHA led the naming and full brand development, drawing inspiration from the university’s Spartan mascot. The name Apella references the ancient Spartan assembly of citizens—symbolizing community, strength, and belonging—while the visual identity reinterprets the school’s red and black palette through bold tomato and cobalt tones to create a modern, energetic brand tailored to student living.
